Actually, a side premise in OreShura (& main premise in Chu2) is an ex-chuunibyou boy being pestered by @ least 1 annoying chuunibyou girl to be a chuunibyou again. Personally, nothing wrong with being chuunibyou if it's not extreme. It was meh for me back then, but the cliches have been increasingly annoying over the years, especially prudishness & extreme submissiveness. I can picture getting extremely annoyed seeing OreShura MMC letting himself be dragged around unnecessarily if I watch again.

Those were also drawn-out, most romance & pseudo-harem anime are drawn-out since coupling & polyamory are shallowly wrongly viewed as Conflictless Eternal Bliss Prizes. 😑

Most of these "harems" aren't actually harems.
1 gal to multiple guys, 1 guy to multiple gals, etc but there's very little romantic progression. & if it develops into a true harem, it doesn't happen till the end of the series.
The closest series to true polyamory are 1s where physical intimacy is strongly connected to their powers — Shinmai Maou, Masou H×H — & those still have very slow romantic progress due to prudish attitudes.
Then there are Isekai Harem & Redo Of Healer which have true harems but mostly due to being hentai adjacent.

Even p0rnhwa & p0rnga is cognitively dissonant due to having plenty phuqqing but rampant prudish attitudes.
Seems like too many creators don't understand romantic love is a product libido.
But even despite East Asia still being quite traditional, I wonder if some of these creators are using these cliches (prudish & otherwise) as intentional gags.

I've been reading Se× Stopwatch p0rnhwa which subverted the beta chara cliche but now it's sort of leaning into edgelord cliche which I hope it subverts too.

The main point of romance & pseudo-harem media is the romance yet non-erotic East Asian media in these genres tend to have dragged-out courtship.
Even Kaguya-sama & RikeKoi have dragged-out courtship despite doing it in a fanciful way. These shows are mostly perpetuating shallow prudish premises about romance (which is an offshoot of libido).

Yeah they ade indeed seems bland like your generic harem members but at least they got great assets( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Speaking of Shin-Ei, they're the studio behind the Takagi-san series plus its movie, as well as having released Tonari no Seki-kun, Mashiro no Oto, Denki-gai no Honya-san, Crayon Shin-chan, Doraemon, and more.

This show is basically the child of Nisekoi and Domestic Girlfriend written by the author of Yamada-kun to 7-nin. I gotta say, when I heard Takagi-san director Hiroaki Akagi was one of two directors directing Cuckoos, I was hyped, because he did an excellent job with the Takagi-san series, so I knew it was in good hands. Can't say the same for the other director Yoshiyuki Shirahata. I think I can tell which parts were handled by Akagi, and which was handled by Shirahata.

Anyway for positives, I gotta love the chemistry between Kaito Ishikawa, Nao Toyama, Akari Kitou, and Konomi Kohara as Nagi, Hiro, Erika, and Sachi respectively. The OP and ED in the 1st cour were solid, and the artstyle and animation were nice.

However, this is where we reach the negatives. While I said I liked the chemistry of the cast, can't say the same for the characters. Nagi is a dope for someone so bright. Erika and Sachi are both alright but feel muddled in their own way, and Hiro came off as inconsistent being this seemingly nice girl now doing shady stuff. The OST is fine, nothing to write home about, and the OP and ED for the 2nd cour isn't as good as the first. And like I said, Shirahata, for his first outing as director, mixed results. Never a good idea to bring in two directors if you ask me. Plus with all the cuckoo nonsense, expect a lotta..well...cuckooness.

While it's not the worst show, I wouldn't say I enjoyed it either. While there are some good moments, it ends up lost in a sea of cuckoos with issues. Plus, like Shikimori, it didn't help this aired back in April with a TON of competition, which I think hurt the show more. Overall, I recommend watching Nisekoi if you haven't already.

Pretty much how most of us feel, including me. It starts off interesting, but my god nothing really happens in this anime. When they finally drop some important information, you'd think that would change the dynamic of the show, but no...there's really no big decisions made, or any consequences that would alter character interactions. I don't hate it, but not gonna lie- I struggled to finish this anime because it got so dang boring.

I always forget what's the name of this anime and now I know but I'm gonna forget the title in a few weeks
